Sorgan existed as a planet in the Outer Rim Territories, characterized by its breathable atmosphere, extensive forests, and swamps. It was the only habitable celestial body within its system and supported a small native population. In 9 ABY, a Klatooinian tribe resided there, frequently attacking a modest village dedicated to krill farming. Din Djarin and Carasynthia Dune, acting as mercenaries, teamed up with the villagers to ultimately bring an end to these raids.
Later, in 18 ABY, a camp on Sorgan served as a base for a detachment of the Spice Runners of Kijimi smuggler organization. After the New Republic located this group during a mission, their leader, Tomasso, relocated the remaining members to different locations in the Outer Rim to ensure their safety.
Sorgan, with its breathable [atmosphere](/article/atmosphere], was the sole habitable planet in its star system, found far within the Outer Rim Territories. Its surface was a blend of thick forests, deep swamps, and serene lakes. Various native creatures called this planet home, including frogs, krill, and the grinjer.

During the era of the New Republic, Din Djarin, a Mandalorian bounty hunter also known as "the Mandalorian," sought refuge on Sorgan. He was attempting to evade the Bounty Hunters' Guild following a conflict on Nevarro, a world in the Outer Rim, circa 9 ABY. Accompanied by Grogu, Djarin hoped Sorgan would provide a secure, temporary haven for the child. Soon after his arrival, Djarin had a brief altercation with Carasynthia Dune, a former shock trooper of the New Republic, just outside a common house where they were both dining. Dune and Djarin then went their separate ways, acknowledging that the planet wasn't large enough for both of them to remain.
Shortly after this encounter, two local krill farmers approached Djarin, begging for his help against a gang of Klatooinian raiders that had been terrorizing their village. Eventually, Djarin agreed and reached out to Dune for assistance. The two mercenaries, along with Grogu, journeyed with the villagers back to their home. While surveying the area around the village, Dune and Djarin spotted tracks from an All Terrain Scout Transport. They tried to persuade the villagers to evacuate, but the locals chose to stay in their ancestral lands. Instead of leaving, Dune and Djarin started training the villagers in the use of blasters for self-defense and support against the raiders. After devising a strategy to defeat the AT-ST Raider walker, the two mercenaries trained with the villagers to get ready for the next assault.

Once Dune and Djarin were satisfied with the villagers' preparedness, they discreetly attacked the raiders' outpost, reducing the enemy's numbers and drawing the Klatooinians toward the village. As anticipated, the raiders pursued the mercenaries with their AT-ST and clashed with the villagers, resulting in losses on both sides. Dune and Djarin tried to lead the AT-ST into a pre-prepared pit, but the walker stopped just before reaching it. The villagers then bravely defended the pinned mercenaries, engaging the raiders in close combat. While still under fire, Dune used Djarin's Amban sniper rifle to entice the walker closer, firing shots until it fell into the trap and was destroyed, causing the raiders to retreat.
Djarin initially planned to remain on Sorgan with Grogu, but the arrival of a bounty hunter with a tracking fob for Grogu changed his mind. The Kubaz hunter managed to aim at Grogu, but Dune killed him before he could fire. After this close call, Djarin decided to leave the planet for the safety of Grogu and the villagers. Before departing Sorgan, the Mandalorian said goodbye to Cara Dune and Omera, a villager whom Djarin had grown fond of during his stay.

Not long after leaving the planet, Din Djarin returned to the common house on Sorgan with Grogu to seek Carasynthia Dune's help against an Imperial warlord who had seized control of Nevarro. He found her participating in a fighting ring for entertainment, with a boisterous crowd gambling on the outcome. Although Dune was hesitant to assist the Mandalorian, she changed her mind when he revealed that they would be fighting against a former Imperial warlord.
In 18 ABY, a camp on Sorgan served as the base of operations for a cell of the Spice Runners of Kijimi smuggler syndicate. This cell was headed by Tomasso, a high-ranking member, and included Zorii Bliss, daughter of the gang's leader, Zeva Bliss, along with other members like Marinda Gan, Gen Tri, and Vigilch. During that year, Poe Dameron, then a young pilot, joined the Spice Runners, piloting their XS stock light freighter, the Ragged Claw, from the moon Yavin 4 to Sorgan, believing their stay would be brief.
The cell conducted operations from Sorgan for roughly a month, carrying out various missions. Following a mission to Quintil where the cell rescued Tomasso, Dameron piloted the Ragged Claw back to Sorgan, using hyperspace skipping to evade the rival Zualjinn Syndicate. After repairing the light freighter, Dameron and Bliss briefly left Sorgan for Bliss to practice flying the ship, but Tomasso summoned them back.
During a subsequent mission on a Moraysian cruiser, Vigilch was killed, and Officer Sela Trune of the New Republic Security Bureau managed to locate the Spice Runner cell, forcing Dameron and Bliss to escape, leaving Gan and Tri behind on the cruiser. Dameron sent Bliss and the EV-series droid EV-6B6 back to Sorgan aboard a BTL-S3 Y-wing starfighter, and followed shortly after in the Ragged Claw. Following the mission, the cell left Sorgan, relocating to various safe houses across the Outer Rim to avoid the New Republic.
Sorgan, an underdeveloped planet with limited governance and a primarily agricultural society, had a sparse population, mainly consisting of simple human farmers living in small villages. Estimates placed the total population at under 10,000. Dara Vish owned a common house on Sorgan, welcoming newcomers like Din Djarin and Carasynthia Dune in 9 ABY. The local Klatooinian raider tribe, more technologically advanced than their human counterparts, used equipment and weapons like the AT-ST, a walker used by the Galactic Empire for anti-infantry purposes, to terrorize and plunder the local villages.

Sorgan lacked significant settlements, industrial complexes, or star ports. The planet featured a common house, a central gathering place for visitors, offering bone broth and spotchka, and hosting a fighting ring for entertainment. Deeper into the wilderness was a village of krill farmers. Around 9 ABY, this village was targeted by a Klatooinian tribe, who established a base camp nearby. As part of their strategy to repel the raiders, Djarin and Dune infiltrated the camp, creating chaos to draw out the walker. In 18 ABY, a cell of the Spice Runners of Kijimi operated from a camp on Sorgan.
Sorgan made its debut in The Mandalorian Chapter 4: Sanctuary, which was broadcast on the Disney+ streaming service on November 29, 2019.
