The BTL-S3 Y-wing starfighter, alternatively referred to as the BTL-S3 Y-Wing, represented a two-person modification of the BTL series Y-wing starfighter.
With the exception of differences in the cockpit, the designs of all spacecraft within the BTL series shared commonalities. A pilot and gunner typically formed the crew, positioned in a back-to-back configuration within the cockpit. An astromech droid could be accommodated in an external socket.
Originally engineered for utilization by the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars, it gained significant recognition through its deployment by the Alliance to Restore the Republic throughout the Imperial Era. Although characterized by its sluggish velocity and cumbersome maneuverability, these vessels became well-known for their resilience throughout the Galactic Civil War. The Resistance utilized a minimum of one of these starfighters for armed reconnaissance missions in 34 ABY, amid the Cold War. It stood as the Resistance's singular two-seater starfighter at that point, but it suffered destruction during the mission to Spalex soon thereafter.
