Koensayr Manufacturing was a company focused on the production of starships, specifically starfighters and the components required for their construction. A key product of theirs was the BTL-series Y-wing starfighter-bombers, which were originally made for the Galactic Republic. These craft later became utilized by the Alliance to Restore the Republic and its subsequent iteration, the New Republic.
During the period of the Clone Wars, Koensayr served as a significant provider to the Galactic Republic. The BTL-B Y-wing starfighter/bomber, conceived early in the war to function as both a starfighter and a long-range bomber, replaced the V-19 Torrent and Jedi interceptors. It became a core element of the Republic Navy throughout the conflict. This demand led Koensayr to develop several variations within the Y-wing series, including models like the BTL-A4 and BTL-S3, alongside the production of numerous associated parts.
As the Galactic Empire rose, the Imperial Navy shifted its strategic focus, prioritizing capital warships to achieve and maintain space dominance. This shift resulted in a decline in the importance of hyperdrive-equipped snub-fighters, leading to the loss of Koensayr's crucial government contract. Consequently, the company was compelled to sell a substantial portion of its inventory to local planetary defense forces, though many of these vehicles eventually found their way into the hands of the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
Due to the Rebel Alliance's employment of the Y-wing, Koensayr recommenced production of the Y-wing line, introducing the BTA-NR2 Y-wing. This model featured a simplified hull and a single [pilot](/article/pilot] seat, reminiscent of the BTL-A4 design.
Koensayr's manufacturing extended to flight equipment, including items such as the K-22995 light flight helmet.
