Megalight per hour

The megalight per hour, often shortened to MGLT, served as a measurement for the sublight velocities of starships operating within realspace (as opposed to speeds in hyperspace). It's important to note that these speeds were still significantly close to the speed of light, resulting in noticeable relativistic effects.

As an illustration, the RZ-1 A-wing interceptor boasted a considerably higher velocity (120 MGLT) compared to the BTL-A4 Y-wing assault starfighter/bomber (70 MGLT).

The TIE/vn space superiority fighter achieved the highest documented maximum realspace speed of any starship, clocking in at 155 MGLT.

The origin of the MGLT unit can be traced back to a comparative chart of starfighter propulsion capabilities.
