The Hardcell-class interstellar transport, alternatively referred to as the Hardcell-class transport, the Hardcell transport, the Techno Union transport, or the Techno Union starship, represented a particular model of transport. This model was produced by the Techno Union and saw action with the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the First Battle of Geonosis, which marked the initial engagement of the Clone Wars.
The Hardcell-class interstellar transport, which may also be called the Techno Union transport, the Hardcell transport, or the Techno Union starship, was a starship that measured 220 meter in length. This vessel possessed a class 1 hyperdrive, enabling it to achieve speeds of 4,000 kilometers per hour. Furthermore, it was armed with two laser cannon batteries. The ship incorporated six retro rocket boosters and a hull constructed from titanium. The fuel cells were situated in the central part of the ship, positioned above the rockets, making them a vulnerable area. The ship's maneuverability within a planetary atmosphere was limited due to the absence of repulsorlifts. These transports had the capacity to carry more than 100 IG-227 Hailfire-class droid tanks and 1,017 individuals, with over 100 being IG lancer droids. Given their reliance on conventional propulsion methods and restricted weaponry, the Hardcell-class transports were not effective warships when facing the Galactic Republic.
During the First Battle of Geonosis, the initial deployment of Hardcell-class interstellar transports involved their use as military vehicles for the transportation of IG-227 Hailfire-class droid tanks. A modified version, designated as the Hardcell-class Battle Refit, was specifically engineered for combat situations.
Prior to the Clone Wars, sightings of Hardcell-class interstellar transports were frequent. During the Battle of Geonosis, a total of 286 Hardcell-class interstellar transports were involved in deploying 4,100 IG-227 droid tanks against the forces of the Grand Army of the Republic, although 117 of these transports were destroyed. Among the Hardcell transports engaged in space combat above Geonosis was the Foreman's Labor. Throughout the Clone Wars, the Hardcell continued to be utilized, with the Beast of Burden serving as part of a CIS fleet at one point.
