Gode Takrab

Gode Takrab, a Neimoidian male, served the Trade Federation as both a trade officer and a holo faker during the Naboo crisis in 32 BBY. Despite the Federation's successful capture of the planet Naboo, they required Queen Amidala's signature on an agreement to validate their occupation, a condition she resisted. Takrab's supervisor, Rune Haako, instructed him to fabricate Amidala's signature on a treaty and to produce a false hologram of her. The plan was for the Federation to dispatch these fraudulent items to Coruscant.

During the second attack of Theed, when Amidala and her allies launched an assault on the Federation's ground headquarters situated on Naboo, Takrab received orders to get to the Droid Control Ship orbiting the planet and transmit the fabricated message. Although he was accompanied by a security detail en route to his shuttle, the Naboo Resistance intercepted and apprehended Takrab. Consequently, he failed to send the message before the battle concluded. Furthermore, because Amidala survived and communicated with Coruscant directly, the forgery became irrelevant.

Biography

Gode Takrab was a Neimoidian male who worked as a bureaucrat. As a low ranking trade officer within the Trade Federation, Takrab served under the Settlement Officer Rune Haako in the final years of the Galactic Republic. In 32 BBY, the Trade Federation secretly colonized the planet Alaris Prime and deployed troops to engage a colony of Wookiee settlers commanded by Attichitcuk. Takrab oversaw a contingent of B1-series battle droids that were defeated in a conflict with the Wookiees.

Later in that same year, the Trade Federation invaded the planet Naboo and took its queen, Amidala, as a prisoner. Viceroy Nute Gunray, the Federation's commanding officer, sought Amidala's signature on a treaty to legitimize their occupation; however, Amidala was unwilling to comply and ultimately escaped.

After the Federation had captured the capital city of Theed, both Haako and Takrab were assigned to the Theed Royal Palace, located on Naboo's surface. Haako then instructed Takrab to create a convincing fraudulent agreement that included a forgery of Amidala's signature, in addition to a fabricated hologram of the Queen. These were intended to be sent to the Galactic Senate as if they were a genuine message from her. Haako reasoned that even if the Senate did not immediately approve the files, the ensuing debate over their authenticity would grant the Federation valuable time to solidify its control over Naboo.

Takrab produced an agreement with the forged signature and stored it electronically within the memory of his protocol droid, TC-11. He then developed the fake message, which depicted a simulation of Amidala holding a data slate that supposedly displayed the treaty. Takrab planned to transfer the electronic treaty onto a physical data slate once he reached the Droid Control Ship, which was at that time orbiting Naboo. Due to a communications disruption on Naboo orchestrated by the Federation, Takrab was limited to sending the files to Coruscant from the starship.

Shortly after Haako personally approved Takrab's work, Amidala and her allies, including the emerging Naboo Resistance, attacked the Palace. Haako assigned ten security B1 battle droids to escort Takrab to his shuttle, where TC-11 and two additional battle droids were already present. Haako instructed Takrab to proceed to the Droid Control Ship and transmit his forgeries to the Senate.

Takrab, captured by Wezz, Rorwoor, and Surool

To circumvent a potential conflict involving other battle droids and Captain Panaka's soldiers, Takrab directed his escort to take a detour through the Palace's repair bay. Inside, they encountered several members of the Resistance, including Rorworr, a Wookiee scout; Deel Surool, a Twi'lek scoundrel; and Sia-Lan Wezz, a Human Jedi Padawan, who had become separated from the main battle. Feeling confident due to his numerical advantage, the Neimoidian ordered his droids to attack, while keeping four of them close to shield him. However, Takrab experienced a panic attack and ran through the line of fire. Because the droids were programmed to avoid shooting Takrab, this reduced the effectiveness of his forces.

The Resistance members defeated the droids and captured Takrab. The Neimoidian feigned ignorance of the details of his mission and requested to be released, offering his captors a bribe in exchange for an escort to his shuttle. His captors discovered the hologram he was carrying and realized that Takrab was indeed aware of the plan. Nevertheless, Takrab remained confident that they would not find the treaty, which was stored solely within his droid.

Nute Gunray then dispatched several other battle droids, under the command of the officer battle droid RK-7, to secure Takrab's shuttle, which was crucial for Takrab's mission and served as an emergency escape for Gunray should Takrab be killed. Despite these efforts, Takrab failed to reach the Droid Control Ship and was unable to transmit his forgeries. Shortly thereafter, Queen Amidala captured Federation leaders Gunray and Haako, and her Naboo Royal Space Fighter Corps destroyed the Droid Control Ship, which deactivated the battle droids. The Federation's defeat was complete. Amidala then contacted Coruscant directly and informed the Senate of the situation. With her statement made, Takrab's forged hologram became useless.

Personality and traits

Gode Takrab was a trade officer who possessed considerable experience in the areas of computer technology and counterfeiting. He also had some knowledge of other fields, including diplomacy and commerce. He lacked the ability to pilot ships and was even unaware of the activation code for his own shuttle. Takrab was also a poor fighter who preferred to rely on others for protection. Like most Neimoidians, he was easily intimidated by the prospect of physical harm. As a result, he was unable to remain still during combat situations.

Among his personal belongings was a hold-out blaster, which he was unable to use effectively. He also carried a friend-or-foe identifier concealed within his cowl, an item provided to Trade Federation officers to prevent battle droids from attacking them. In addition, Takrab kept two more identifiers in a hidden compartment on his personal shuttle. He relied heavily on the protocol droid TC-11, with whom he had pre-established code words.

Behind the scenes

Gode Takrab is a character in the RPG adventure Peril on Naboo, which was published in the sourcebook Secrets of Naboo and adapted for Wizards of the Coast's Star Wars Roleplaying Game.

Alternate endings

The player characters are intended to capture Takrab and thwart his mission, although they may not necessarily discover both of Takrab's forgeries. If both are found, Queen Amidala would grant the characters the title of honorary Palace Guards.

In the unlikely event that the player characters are defeated by Takrab's droids, Takrab instructs the droids to escort him to the shuttle and depart for the Droid Control Ship, without delivering a final blow to his defeated enemies.
