Sia-Lan Wezz

Sia-Lan Wezz was a Jedi Knight of the Human species (female), as well as a General, during the final years of the Galactic Republic. She was previously the Padawan of Master Lo-Jad.

Biography

Rorworr, Vor'en Kurn, and Sia-Lan Wezz deal with a T4 turret droid ambush in close quarters.

Wezz's Force-sensitive nature was discovered when she was a baby, and she was subsequently taken to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant for formal training in the ways of the Force at the Temple's academy. After many years of instruction, Jedi Master Lo-Jad chose Wezz to be his Padawan, which meant she would travel with him across the galaxy as she continued her Jedi studies. Wezz was assigned to investigate the Flail, a terrorist group based on Coruscant, one year after she turned thirteen. She teamed up with a Wookiee, fought the group's members, and finished the assignment. In 32 BBY, Master Lo-Jad sent Wezz to Naboo to spend a semester studying at the Royal House of Learning in Theed. Wezz became friends with headmaster Lucos Dannt, and she was on the planet when the Trade Federation enacted a blockade. Wezz joined the Naboo Underground, a resistance group that sought to overthrow Federation control, during the invasion. Wezz became acquainted with Deel Surool, Rorworr, and fellow Padawan Rann I-Kanu while working with the resistance. Wezz left Naboo soon after the Federation's defeat, but she maintained contact with her new friends and enlisted their help on several future missions.

Throughout her time as a Padawan, Wezz either created multiple lightsabers or had access to various lightsaber crystals, as she was seen wielding weapons with blue, pink, yellow, and green blades during her service to the Order. Following Palpatine's election as Supreme Chancellor, Wezz, along with her comrades Rorworr, Vor'en Kurn, and Deel Surool, was dispatched to the snow-covered planet of Puloorn to find a hidden Sith Temple. The team discovered the temple ruins, which may have been inhabited by dark side creatures or cultists, and reported their findings to Palpatine and the Jedi High Council. Wezz spent the next decade studying and preparing for her Trials of Knighthood, a series of tests she would need to pass in order to be promoted to the rank of Jedi Knight.

Wezz and her companions traveled to Corellia shortly before the Clone Wars began, where they thwarted a Separatist assassination attempt on Alastar Treen, a Senator from Corulag. After this, the four worked together on a regular basis. The team faced a wide range of adversaries and scenarios, including attacks on battle droid commanders, an investigation into a bounty hunter operating out of the Royal Hutt Hotel, raids on crime lords, encounters with Tusken Raiders on Tatooine, cantina fights with Aqualish and Rodian gangs, escapes from a battle droid garrison and a Colicoid-run prison in the Spice Mines of Kessel, a Jawa ambush in an abandoned armory, and even mounted blasters in the dark hallways of the warlord Grumbog's's space station fortress.

Sia-Lan Wezz impaled by Darth Vader

The team was so successful that they continued to receive orders directly from the Chancellor's office and the High Council. One such mission involved the group investigating the disappearance of a Republic arsenal ship that had been tasked with decommissioning the Trade Federation Army defeated at Naboo. The investigation led the team to Kwenn Space Station, where they defeated several re-activated battle droids. The team was also tasked with preventing Corann from being the first of the Core Worlds to secede from the Republic. Rorworr's team looked into rumors of Separatist activity on the small industrial planet and discovered a droid manufacturing facility.

Wezz, an accomplished Guardian by the time the war ended, managed to avoid the execution of Contingency Order 66 at the end of the conflict. This order, issued by the treasonous Chancellor Palpatine, called for the extermination of all Jedi. Wezz fled from the Grand Army and encountered Master Shadday Potkin, another survivor, and agreed to meet her on Kessel. Wezz met with Jedi Potkin, Ma'kis'shaalas, Roblio Darté, Tsui Choi, Bultar Swan, Koffi Arana, and Jastus Farr a month after the Galactic Empire was established to plan their next move against Palpatine, who was revealed to be a Sith Lord. Potkin had foolishly lured Darth Vader to the meeting, hoping that the team could defeat the Sith and bring an end to the Empire, unbeknownst to everyone present. Sia-Lan Wezz was the first to attack Vader, rushing at him with her lightsaber raised. However, she was no match for the Dark Lord of the Sith, who easily pierced her chest with his lightsaber and severed her hand before her dead body fell to the ground.

Legacy

During the Galactic Civil War, Sia-Lan Wezz and fellow Jedi Dorn Tavers were featured on a Rebel Alliance poster with the slogan "Remember Alderaan." According to erroneous reports, Wezz was killed by High Inquisitor Volytar during the Battle of Skorrupon, while defending the people of Skorrupon from Imperial takeover.

Behind the scenes

Sia-Lan Wezz

Sia-Lan Wezz is the Jedi Guardian character used in all game examples in the rulebooks for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game. Her character was inexplicably referred to as "Dane" in an article in The Official Star Wars Fact File 91.

Her death was initially established in Galactic Campaign Guide as occurring during the Battle of Skorrupon. However, Star Wars: Purge later revealed that she was killed by Darth Vader shortly after the Galactic Empire was formed. The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia verified that Vader was responsible for her death.

In Star Wars: Purge, Sia-Lan's lightsaber blade changes from green to pink when Darth Vader cuts off her hand. She has been shown in other sources with a yellow or blue lightsaber.
