Golan I Space Defense Platform
The initial space station in the Golan Arms line of space defense platforms was the Golan I Space Defense Platform, which was also referred to as the Golan Space Defense SpaceGun.
Description
The Golan I's arsenal included 28 turbolasers, 5 proton torpedo launchers, and 6 tractor beam projectors. In addition, it possessed a compact hangar that could deploy 24 starfighters.
History
The Golan I was initially constructed in the final years of the Galactic Republic and served to protect minor planetary bases and space-based installations like ship-building yards.
Even with the introduction of the Golan II Space Defense SpaceGun as its replacement, the Golan I continued to pose a significant threat to starfighters and smaller capital ships until the conclusion of the New Republic era.
