Gondar

Gondar were a species of creatures distinguished by their tusks. These tusks were the raw material for crafting the Gondar tusk masks.

Behind the scenes

Although Gondars themselves have not been visually depicted, their tusks initially surfaced, though without identification, as part of Billy Dee Williams's attire in the 1983 movie Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi. The identification of these tusks occurred within the canon timeline in both the junior novelization and the extended novelization associated with the 2018 film, Solo: A Star Wars Story.

In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the tusks were first attributed to a Gondar in "Taster's Choice: The Tale of Jabba's Chef", a short story penned by Barbara Hambly, featured in Tales from Jabba's Palace and released in January of 1996.
