Graador

Graador, a planet situated in the Mid Rim, was characterized by expansive caverns capable of housing entire fleets of starships. These caverns provided a home for both colossal exogorths and mynocks, both of which were able to thrive in the planet's atmosphere. Furthermore, Graador was inhabited by two sentient species: the agrarian Graadorians and a breed of intelligent mynocks that had mutated.

During the time of the Galactic Civil War, agents of the Rebel Alliance conducted a survey of Graador's caverns, initially considering them as a potential site for a new Rebel base, and the Alliance Fleet. However, after encountering the local exogorths and sentient mynocks, who planned to feed on the Rebels' starships and power generators respectively, the agents were compelled to evade these creatures in order to warn the fleet about the danger posed by Graador's inhabitants.

Description

Graador, a terrestrial planet located in the Graador system within the Mid Rim's Graador sector, was notable for its enormous caverns. These caverns were so vast that they could easily accommodate multiple fleets of starships.

The caverns of Graador served as a habitat for a unique variant of the mynock, a species of ergovorous creature typically found in the vacuum of space. Mynocks are thought to have originated from Ord Mynock in the Outer Rim Territories, and planetary atmospheres are often lethal to them. However, the Graador mynocks had adapted to the planet's air. They shared their habitat with massive exogorths, creatures also known for their ability to survive in the harsh conditions of space.

History

Rebel Alliance agents encountered both non-sentient and intelligent mynocks (pictured) on Graador.

During the Galactic Civil War, a team of Rebel Alliance agents were given the task of locating a suitable site for a new main Alliance base. This search was initiated following the evacuation of the facility on the moon Yavin 4, located in the Outer Rim Territories. After several unsuccessful attempts, General Airen Cracken of the Rebel forces dispatched the team to Graador.

Upon arrival, the Rebels determined that the planet's cave systems were suitable for both Rebel personnel and the entire Alliance Fleet. The team also encountered the native population of non-sentient mynocks, but considered them to be a minor problem. These creatures consumed the agents' transceiver equipment after the agents had contacted Cracken to inform him that the Rebel fleet could be relocated to Graador.

Subsequently, the Rebel team encountered both the planet's exogorths and a group of mutated, intelligent mynocks that controlled them. They discovered that the mynocks intended to feed on the Rebels' power generators, while allowing their enthralled exogorths to consume the Alliance starships. After the Rebel agents killed several of the mutant mynocks, the exogorths began a destructive rampage. The team was then forced to evade both the exogorths and the remaining mynocks until they could repair their communications array and warn the Alliance Fleet about the trap awaiting them at Graador.

Inhabitants

Graador provided limited resources for its inhabitants, which included the agrarian Graadorians. Other native species included a type of mynock that had evolved sentience through mutation. These intelligent mynocks were able to control the exogorths residing on Graador.

Behind the scenes

Graador was first introduced in the Rebellion Era Campaign Guide sourcebook from 2009, which was published by Wizards of the Coast for use with the Star Wars Roleplaying Game. Within the book, the planet serves as the setting for a roleplaying game adventure hook, which this article assumes unfolds as described. The StarWars.com Online Companion to the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Graador system, and therefore Graador itself, in grid square I-17.
