Following the beginning of the Clone Wars at the first battle of geonosis, a medal was presented to newly graduated clone cadets from their training facility, the Tipoca City Military Complex situated on the planet of Kamino, after which they were recognized as official clone troopers. After their accomplishment in the Citadel Challenge, all of the cadets in Domino Squad were given medals, at which point CT-782, known as "Hevy," gave his medal to the deformed clone, 99, to represent their bond.
