The Great Northern Forest, a substantial woodland situated on Myrkr, served as a habitat for both vornskrs and ysalamiri. It also functioned as the location of Talon Karrde's operational headquarters. The settlement of Hyllyard City was positioned in close proximity to this forest.
During the events of the Thrawn campaign, Luke Skywalker was apprehended by Talon Karrde alongside his group of smugglers. Skywalker was brought to Karrde's base, found on Myrkr, but successfully managed to break free using a Skipray Blastboat. Mara Jade pursued him through the Great Northern Forest. After their Skipray crashed, the Jedi was taken prisoner by Mara Jade. Subsequently, they attempted to exit the forest, only to be captured by the forces of Grand Admiral Thrawn. They were taken to Hyllyard City, where Lando Calrissian and Karrde's smugglers rescued them.
