Gun of Command

The Gun of Command was an advanced technological weapon originating from Charubah, a planet situated within the Hapes Cluster.

Description

A profile view of the Gun of Command

This weapon possessed a danger exceeding almost any other, as it blurred the line between a victim's own thoughts and those of their controller, granting the Hapans the ability to manipulate them. These guns functioned by emitting an electromagnetic field, effectively disrupting the target's cognitive functions. Once under its influence, the affected individual would unhesitatingly obey any simple instruction, even those that were clearly self-destructive. Notably, the Gun of Command served as a method of capital punishment, where a condemned male (Hapes never executed females) would be shot with the weapon, given a blaster, and commanded to end their own life.

History

A rifle variant, a product of the Royal Armaments Guild of Charubah, surfaced on Kabal around the time of 0 ABY. It was in the possession of Cecil Noone, who had stolen it and was attempting to sell it to Krish hunter Tyro Viveca. Cecil boasted that the rifle was a unique prototype, with double the "persuasive power" of the pistol version, capable of influencing a Human for approximately one hour, an Ugnaught for two to three hours, and a Houk for forty minutes.

The Hapan Gun of Command

The ruling figures of the Hapes Cluster gifted Princess Leia Organa with 63 valuable items from their territories, among them the Gun of Command. Han Solo employed the gun to compel Leia to flee with him to Dathomir. Subsequently, he disabled the weapon by removing circuitry from its barrel, rendering it useless when Leia considered using it against him after realizing his actions.

In another instance, three Hapans used a Gun of Command against Luke Skywalker when he tried to intervene in their interrogation of the Drackmarian warlord, Omogg. However, Luke utilized the Force to negate its effects, before using telekinesis to disarm them.
