A daring robbery was executed by the Spice Runners of Kijimi on the planet Guat'a. Their objective: pilfering the star maps referred to as the Letters of Where and When from the clutches of the warlord Smaatku. A specific group within the Spice Runners, spearheaded by Tomasso, dispatched agents Zorii Bliss and Poe Dameron with the mission of acquiring the aforementioned maps. Smaatku and his protectors chased after them, only to meet their end; killed when Tomasso unleashed the blaster cannons mounted on the freighter Vondel. In the aftermath of the heist, the [Osako pirates](/article/osako_pirates] gave chase to the Spice Runners through the adjacent Torch Nebula. This pursuit was initiated following a request from Kes Dameron, Poe's father, who sought to locate his son.
