Developing an attraction towards starship captains, she was captivated by Han Solo, the Captain of the Millennium Falcon, sometime before the planet Alderaan's destruction. Solo, in an effort to recall the name of Jenny, a girl from his time at the Mos Eisley spaceport on Tatooine, recalled her.
The first reference to Hellene appeared in Alexandra Bracken's A New Hope: The Princess, the Scoundrel, and the Farm Boy, the canon novel adaptation of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope that was published in 2015. She is not mentioned in the movie.
