Hoth Limited

The second complete expansion for the Star Wars Customizable Card Game, a card game rooted in the Star Wars saga, is the Hoth Limited set. This collection appeared in November of 1996 and contains 162 cards, split evenly with 81 cards for both the Dark Side and the Light Side. The set's composition includes 54 cards at each rarity level: rare, uncommon, and common. Many iconic characters connected to the Battle of Hoth from Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back were first introduced in this set. You can find a comprehensive list of all cards in the Hoth Limited set on the players committee's page. As an expansion, each card has a distinct expansion symbol. Look for it near the top right of the card, to the right of the lore text, and just beneath the destiny number. The planet Hoth itself serves as the symbol for this particular expansion.

This set was distributed in expansion packs that contained 15 cards, and these packs were sold in boxes of 36. Each pack had a fixed distribution of one rare, four uncommon, and ten common cards. Although no starter decks were specifically made for this set, The Empire Strikes Back Introductory Two-Player Game, which featured cards from the Hoth expansion, was launched soon after. The set's production ceased in September of 1998, coinciding with the release of Hoth Revised Unlimited, a nearly identical set that included some minor textual updates and switched from black borders to white borders. A version of this expansion was also released in Japan, featuring Japanese text.

Continuity

Many characters from Episode V received their names from this set. Examples include Echo Base personnel like Toryn Farr, Tigran Jamiro, Tamizander Rey, Cal Alder, and [Shawn Valdez],(/article/shawn_valdez) among others. Protocol droids K-3PO and R-3PO were also named. The Star Destroyer destroyed by the base's ion cannon was identified as the Tyrant, and Lennox and Cabbel were named as its captain and first officer, respectively.

Inconsistencies

Romas Navander and Wyron Serper are introduced in this set, but both cards incorrectly use images of the same actor, Burnell Tucker, taken from different scenes in the film. Previously, in the A New Hope Limited set, Tucker was identified as Del Goren, a Rebel technician from Episode IV.

The set also presented Kesin Ommis, a Rebel pilot, but the image was later revealed to be a modified photo of John Morton playing Dak Ralter. This error was eventually fixed in the Rogues Gallery section of Star Wars Insider 146 in December 2013. However, many Legends sources had already mistakenly identified the character in the film as Ommis.
