The Hutt Guard Droid, alternatively called the Snake Droid, represented an older security droid design utilized by the Hutts. Their appearance was similar to slender Hutt figures, exhibiting segmented serpentine physiques, a pair of arms, and slim heads. During the time of the Iron Blockade, numerous security droids of this type could still be found patrolling the deserted Hutt cities on the planet Mataou. An example of this model was RZ-4, constructed by the Hutt known as Shizu.
The initial appearance of Hutt Guard Droids occurred in the canon mobile game Star Wars: Uprising. This game was created by Kabam for both iOS and Android operating systems, with its launch taking place on September 10, 2015. Zachary Oldenkamp designed them, drawing inspiration from a droid featured in the Legends book Tempest Feud, which served as an addition to the Wizards of the Coast Star Wars Roleplaying Game.
