The Indomitable, a cruiser, served the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars. Admiral Wullf Yularen commanded this vessel. It saw action in the battle of Kothlis, sustaining significant damage. Following rapid repairs, the ship was dispatched to Lanteeb, where its task force confronted General Grievous.
Constructed at the Allanteen Six shipyards, the vessel incorporated enhancements from Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker. Its initial mission involved defending the Kothlis intelligence network from General Grievous. The crew successfully countered new jamming tactics employed by the Confederacy of Independent Systems, which were linked to sabotage during the ship's construction. Lieutenant Avrey, the communications officer, devised an impromptu solution using outdated technology. While the Clone troopers repelled the enemy, they suffered heavy losses and the ship sustained substantial damage to its port side. This damage impaired the hyperdrive's performance, necessitating an extended period in drydock. Senator Bail Organa, who headed the Senate Security Committee, initiated an investigation into the cause of the sabotage after the engagement.
News of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker's mission to Lanteeb soon reached the Jedi Temple and Senator Organa. To facilitate the rescue of the two Jedi and thwart General Lok Durd's bioweapon development, the Indomitable's repairs were expedited. Jedi Master Yoda dispatched the Indomitable to Lanteeb accompanied by the Pioneer and Coruscant Sky. Admiral Yularen was reinforced by Torrent Company and Skywalker's Padawan, Ahsoka Tano. Master Mace Windu redirected the Dagger from its patrol in the Bothawui system to join the Indomitable at the designated rendezvous point.
Upon exiting hyperspace, the fleet discovered that Separatist forces had established a blockaded around the planet, with General Grievous personally overseeing the operation. Windu instructed Lt. Arey to establish a priority communication channel with the Jedi Temple. The implemented countermeasures successfully prevented the Separatists from disrupting communications, thwarting four jamming attempts during Windu's conversation with Yoda. Yularen and Windu held differing opinions regarding the subsequent course of action, but they agreed to postpone any provocation of Grievous for one hour.
Senator Organa provided Master Taria Damsin with a captured Separatist spy ship to facilitate the rescue of Skywalker and Kenobi. Her plan involved infiltrating the blockade by simulating pursuit by Republic forces and a subsequent staged crash. To deceive the Separatist fleet, the Republic flotilla launched formations of V-19 Torrent starfighters to harass the enemy ships. Master Damsin approached the blockade, transmitting a fabricated distress signal while being pursued by Gold Squadron from the Indomitable, along with Arrow Squadron and Hammer Squadron. She successfully executed a crash-landing on the planet and aided Skywalker and Kenobi while the orbital engagement continued.
After fourteen hours of continuous fighting, Admiral Yularen contemplated withdrawing his forces. Yoda contacted Windu, informing him that Senator Organa and Senator Padmé Amidala had assembled a fleet from government and corporate sources to liberate Lanteeb. Upon its arrival, the fleet consisted of eleven starfighter squadrons and various other vessels. Grievous, unnerved by the arrival of reinforcements, retreated from the system, enabling the Indomitable to deploy its Low Altitude Assault Transport/infantry gunships and dispatch Torrent Company to rescue Skywalker, Kenobi, and Damsin.
Following the conclusion of the battle, the fleet remained in orbit for twelve hours to manage the aftermath. The Jedi departed aboard a shuttle to the Dagger, which would transport them back to Coruscant.
The Indomitable is featured in the Clone Wars Gambit duology released in 2010. The ship is referred to as a Jedi cruiser, which was a common nickname for Venator-class Star Destroyers during the Clone Wars period.
