J'Hara, a human female, was the offspring of the previous Jedi, Naq Med. Upon noticing that her grandson, Karr Nuq Sin, began to suffer from intense headaches along with blackouts, she came to the conclusion that he possessed Force-sensitive traits. Conversely, Nuq Sin's parents desired continuous medical evaluations to rule out the possibility of a fatal brain tumor. J'Hara attempted to assist Nuq Sin in mastering and comprehending his abilities while Karr was being examined. At the age of seventeen, Karr's grandmother, J'Hara died, and with her last breath, she advised him to venture into the galaxy and discover his purpose.
The character of J'Hara made her debut in the young adult Star Wars novel Force Collector, which was released in 2019 and authored by Kevin Shinick. Shinick drew inspiration from his own bond with his grandmother, Josephine Viola, to whom he dedicated the book, when crafting J'Hara and her connection with Karr Nuq Sin.
