The Jade's Fire represented a heavily customized version of the Personal Luxury Yacht 3000. Initially under the ownership of the industrialist Ja Bardrin, who named it The Winning Gamble, the vessel was later acquired by Mara Jade, who subsequently renamed it Jade's Fire.
This opulent yacht was characterized by its broad central structure, accompanied by a pair of engine housings on either side. Its exterior was adorned with an orange and red color scheme, designed to resemble a flame pattern.
A remote beckon call system was a feature of Jade's Fire. It was enhanced with advanced weapons tracking systems and a distinctive retaliatory firing mechanism. This system could determine the angle of approaching enemy fire and automatically return fire in that precise direction. The Jade Shadow, Mara's subsequent vessel, also incorporated this unique firing capability.
Ja Bardrin orchestrated the kidnapping of both the ship and his daughter, Sansia, to gather intelligence data regarding the defensive systems surrounding Chay Praysh's headquarters. Subsequently, he compelled Mara Jade to undertake a rescue mission for the ship and his daughter, holding the crew of the Wild Karrde as collateral.
Upon learning of her father's involvement in the scheme following her rescue and return, Sansia gifted the ship to Mara Jade. This was intended both as compensation for her rescue from Torpris and as a means of irritating her father. It marked the first instance of Mara possessing a ship outright, and she chose to rename it Jade's Fire.
Piloted by Mara Jade, the Jade's Fire allied with Lando Calrissian aboard the Lady Luck (a vessel of the same class), Han Solo and Leia Organa Solo in the Millennium Falcon, and Luke Skywalker flying his upgraded X-wing. Together, they engaged the Sacorrian Triad fleet during the Battle of Centerpoint Station.
The ship met its end above Nirauan during Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade's attempt to infiltrate The Hand of Thrawn. This was achieved when she deliberately crashed her ship into the docking bay located there.
