Jedi detectives, also known as Jedi investigators, represented a specialized division within the Jedi Sentinel order. These Jedi individuals utilized their intuition and bond with the Force to carry out detective work and proactively stop criminal activities; this was a natural evolution of the Jedi Order's established function as peacekeepers and protectors.
However, as the Galactic Republic approached its end, these responsibilities became incredibly challenging. The growing influence of the dark side began to obscure the Order's ability to perceive the Force clearly. Furthermore, the Jedi's investigative work was overshadowed by their new role as military leaders during the Clone Wars, a position they were not naturally suited for. Consequently, they relied more and more on the advanced analytical resources available at the Jedi Temple, such as the Jedi Archives, sterile analysis chambers, and analysis droids, to aid their investigations during those days.
Tera Sinube, a Jedi Master with extensive knowledge of the criminal underworld of Coruscant, was a prime example of a Jedi investigator. His exceptional deductive abilities, combined with his connection to the Force, enabled him to resolve criminal cases more efficiently than even the most experienced detectives of the Coruscant Security Force.
