The Jedi Schism represents a significant division within the Jedi Order, occurring a mere three months following the commencement of the Clone Wars. This event saw numerous Jedi—numbering in the hundreds—reject directives from the Jedi High Council regarding Palpatine's assignment of Jedi to leadership roles in the Grand Army of the Republic. These Jedi dissented for various reasons, including the conviction that leading armies was incongruent with the Jedi's purpose, the belief that the Separatist Crisis warranted diplomatic rather than military solutions, and the sentiment that their skills were better utilized elsewhere.
Initially, Jedi Master Sora Bulq functioned as an informal leader for this group. However, he was subsequently revealed to be an agent of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Following this revelation, a substantial portion of the dissenting Jedi ultimately reintegrated into the Republic's service. Nevertheless, some chose to maintain their independence, invoking the Right of Denial. The Jedi Council permitted these individuals to remain undisturbed, provided they neither aligned with the CIS nor succumbed to the dark side of the Force, although many were compelled to relinquish their lightsabers.
