Jorak Uln was a male Human Sith Master who, for a duration of time, presided over the Sith Academy located on the planet of Korriban as its headmaster. During the Great Sith War, Uln functioned as a Sith acolyte under the command of the Dark Lord of the Sith, Exar Kun. Following the Jedi Order's and the Galactic Republic's victory over Kun's Sith Empire, Uln ascended to the position of headmaster at the Sith Academy on Korriban, eventually taking the humanoid Uthar Wynn as his Sith apprentice. In 3959 BBY, when the Sith Lords Darth Revan and Darth Malak triggered the Jedi Civil War, Uln pledged his loyalty to their Sith Empire and trained numerous Dark Jedi for Revan and Malak.
Over time, Uln's mental state deteriorated, leading to his expulsion from the Academy by Wynn, who seized his role as headmaster. Uln then sought refuge in the tomb of the ancient Sith Lord Tulak Hord, situated within the Valley of the Dark Lords. In the final year of the Jedi Civil War, Uln encountered Revan—who was now a retrained Jedi Padawan—during the Jedi's search for the Rakatan Star Forge space station, then controlled by the reigning Dark Lord, Darth Malak. The Sith Master ensnared Revan and his companions within Tulak Hord's tomb, assessing the Jedi's understanding of Sith principles while torturing both him and the Sith student Mekel. Following the conclusion of Uln's trial, Revan and his allies, aided by Mekel, slew the Sith Master.

During the Great Sith War, Jorak Uln, a male Human, functioned as an acolyte under the Sith Empire of Dark Lord of the Sith Exar Kun. After the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic achieved victory over Kun, Uln assumed the role of headmaster at the Sith Academy situated on the planet Korriban. During this time, the Sith Master accepted Uthar Wynn as his apprentice.
In 3959 BBY, Darth Revan and Darth Malak, the Sith Lords, initiated the Jedi Civil War and reclaimed Korriban as part of their Sith Empire. Uln swore allegiance to Revan and trained numerous Dark Jedi of the Dark Lord's at the revitalized Academy. However, Uln's mental health began to decline, leading to his overthrow by Wynn, who then took his former master's position as headmaster. Uln sought refuge in the tomb of the ancient Sith Lord Tulak Hord, where he studied the ancient ruins in search of theories regarding the philosophies of the ancient Sith. By 3956 BBY, the third year of the war, Uln had developed a reputation as the "old hermit in hiding." He began abducting students from the Academy and forcing them to participate in torture games, hoping to identify individuals who possessed traits similar to those exhibited by the ancient Sith. Uln would often drug these captives in an attempt to extract information from them.

During the final year of the Jedi Civil War, Revan, the former Sith Lord who was now a retrained Jedi Padawan, explored Tulak Hord's tomb while posing as a Sith student. Revan was in search of the Rakatan Star Forge, a space station under the command of his former apprentice and the current Dark Lord, Darth Malak. Upon attempting to reach Hord's sarcophagus, Revan, who had heard rumors about Uln, and his companions were incapacitated by a trap set by Uln. The former headmaster then escorted Revan to the room containing Hord's sarcophagus.
After Revan regained consciousness, Uln introduced himself to the Jedi and compelled him to participate in a test of his knowledge of Sith ways. Uln informed Revan that if he correctly answered several questions regarding Sith morality, Uln would subject the Sith student Mekel, who was also present in the tomb, to Force lightning. Uln also warned Revan that incorrect answers or refusals to answer would result in the Jedi himself being tortured. As the game commenced, Revan deliberately provided incorrect answers to Uln's four questions in order to spare Mekel's life. Much to Uln's astonishment, Revan survived the test. The Sith Master informed Mekel that he was free to leave the tomb while he contemplated what to do with Revan, but Mekel instead assaulted Uln with the Force. Enraged by this, Uln attacked both Mekel and Revan, but the Jedi and his allies, along with Mekel, combined their strength and killed the former headmaster. Following Uln's death, Revan successfully persuaded Mekel to abandon the Sith ways. Revan later presented Wynn with Uln's ancient Sith tablet, which contained recordings of Tulak Hord's teachings.

During his tenure as the headmaster of the Sith Academy, Jorak Uln, a Human male, began to experience a decline in his mental stability. His skin exhibited a sickly pallor, and his eyes were white. By the time he encountered Revan, Uln had become bald, with only hair remaining on the back of his head. Uln held strong convictions regarding the principles and teachings of the Sith. During his time in Hord's tomb, he studied the ancient ruins within in order to uncover theories about the philosophies of the ancient Sith. He believed that the students being trained by his successor, Uthar Wynn, lacked the "gumption" and purity that he considered essential for a true Sith. As a result, he captured students from the Sith Academy and subjected them to torture games, hoping to find students who displayed traits of the old Sith. These games involved questioning the students and torturing them if they failed to provide correct answers. He was sadistic in his teaching and activism for the Sith cause. Although Uln believed that he would still be remembered for being the Academy's former headmaster, he did not expect the Sith to consider him an "old hermit," which he believed to be slander. Uln held Wynn in low regard and made a point of ridiculing Wynn's teachings.
Uln was capable of setting traps in order to capture students for his torture sessions. In addition, Uln possessed abilities which allowed him to fend off the tuk'ata and shyrack creatures that also resided in Hord's tomb.
Uln possessed an ancient Sith tablet that he had successfully translated; the tablet also contained his opinions of Tulak Hord's teachings. Uln wielded a double-bladed lightsaber equipped with a red crystal, and also kept an Opila lightsaber crystal.
As a Sith Master, Uln possessed a strong command of the dark side of the Force. He was capable of using Force lightning, often employing it against both his enemies and the Academy's students that he captured. Uln also used the Force to choke his foes and drain their life forces, replenishing his own vitality. During combat, Uln wielded a double-bladed lightsaber.
Jorak Uln was created as a villain for the 2003 video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, developed by BioWare. Uln was mentioned in the Knights of the Old Republic Campaign Guide, and received an entry in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia.
Although the player has multiple in-game choices to make regarding Uln, the canonical choices are those that align Revan more closely with the light side. If the player chooses the dark side, they can allow Mekel to die by answering three of Uln's questions correctly. Alternatively, Revan can work with Mekel to defeat Uln, then kill the student. Revan can also allow Mekel to attack and be killed by Uln, an action that results in the Sith Master's loss of vitality. This option does not result in any alignment change. The player can also choose not to explore Hord's tomb, thereby skipping the encounter with Uln entirely.
