Jurgoran

Jurgorans, sizable amphibious creatures, originated on Dromund Kaas. On their homeworld, they were rivaled only by the gundark for dominance of the food chain. These creatures, distinguished by their formidable claws and durable skin, were transported to various planets across the galaxy. On Taral V, a group of jurgorans launched an assault on a Republic strike force that was attempting to gather intel concerning a missing Jedi.

History

On Dromund Kaas, the jurgoran became a symbol of ruthless and unyielding power for the initial Sith settlers. Consequently, many Sith throughout the Empire's history adopted the title "Lord Jurgoran."

The Sith assassin Rora Seake also kept two Jurgorans as "pets" during the era of the Cold War. These creatures, alongside their owner, ultimately perished on Taris, defeated by a Jedi Knight who was protecting Seake's target, a Republic colony.

Somehow, a jurgoran managed to find its way to the planet Tython located in the Deep Core, the ancient origin of the Jedi. The means by which it arrived on the planet is unknown, as is whether any others existed there. This particular jurgoran resided near the ruins of Vur Tepe, also known as the Forge, during the time of the Cold War. It lay dormant within a cave in the ravine close to the Forge until it was inadvertently awakened around 3643 BBY by a Jedi Padawan who had recently rescued their master, Orgus Din, from the Dark Jedi Bengel Morr. This jurgoran, referred to as the Forge Guardian, was slain by the Padawan after it attacked, having been disturbed by the Padawan's construction of their new lightsaber.
