Juvan, which is also referred to as rejuve or rejuv, was a therapeutic compound employed for medicinal purposes during the time of the High Republic Era. By the year 232 BBY, bacta was becoming more widely used than juvan. This fact crossed the mind of Scantech Merven Getter from the Hetzal system as he was on duty at the start of the Great Hyperspace Disaster, since Hetzal was in the process of trying to start bacta production. Jedi Knight Keeve Trennis also observed the phasing out of rejuv after discovering that an abandoned starship she was inspecting had been transporting a shipment of Vratixian barley, an ingredient used in the creation of bacta.
The initial mention of Juvan occurred in the novel titled The High Republic: Light of the Jedi. Its first identification as rejuv was in The High Republic 2.
