Kantaros Station, a space station situated within the Fervse'dra asteroid belt of the Both system, served the Galactic Republic as both a military base and a place of medical care. Following the establishment of the Galactic Empire, the new Empire seized control of the station, repurposing it as a prison for important prisoners. Civilians continued to live on the station, and Cleben, the civilian stationmaster, was ostensibly in charge. Traders associated with Black Sun would sometimes visit the station, providing illegal goods to those residing there.
Around 18 BBY, Darth Vader, the Sith Lord, captured Thi Xon Yimmon, a Cerean who led the Whiplash resistance group on Coruscant, and imprisoned him on Kantaros Station. Vader's initial efforts to get information from Yimmon were unsuccessful, so he had the Cerean watched, hoping to devise a new strategy to force the resistance leader to reveal details about the Whiplash's operations. Furthermore, a large group of Inquisitors, including the well-known Probus Tesla, traveled with Vader to Kantaros Station and established themselves there. Shortly after, Yimmon's allies, Jax Pavan, Den Dhur, I-5YQ, and Sacha Swiftbird, launched a rescue operation and successfully freed Yimmon from his Imperial captors. Pavan briefly fought Darth Vader in a lightsaber duel, but the Jedi ultimately managed to escape, destroying one of the station's hangar bays as he fled.
