Kassar Forge, a Human instructor, dedicated his efforts to a Galactic Republic initiative on Kessel, aimed at rehabilitating incarcerated individuals for successful societal reintegration upon their release. He fathered both Lujayne and Inyri Forge, both of whom would eventually become pilots within the renowned Rogue Squadron.
Before the outbreak of the Clone Wars, Kassar volunteered his services on Kessel, the notorious prison planet. He sought to educate and rehabilitate the criminals residing there, hoping to steer them away from future criminal activity after their sentences were complete. Following the Battle of Endor, when the inmates successfully revolted against their captors and seized control of Kessel, Kassar chose to remain on the moon. He firmly believed that he could still positively impact the lives of the criminals under his charge.
He possessed a humble nature, often downplaying his achievements and speaking of himself with a degree of self-deprecation. He frequently expressed uncertainty about the extent of the good he had accomplished throughout his life. He noted that the Kessel residents, from whom he had gained respect, had "judged [him] harmless."
Kassar's life took an unexpected turn when he fell in love with Myda, one of the inmates, and they subsequently married. While she would not have chosen to reside on Kessel independently, she remained steadfastly by her husband's side and joined him in his teaching endeavors.
The couple chose to spend the remainder of their lives on Kessel, declining all opportunities to leave. This included an offer extended by Commander Wedge Antilles in 6.5 ABY, who was extracting high-profile prisoners to aid in disrupting Imperial operations on Coruscant in the months leading up to its liberation.
Kassar and Myda had several children, the majority of whom remained on Kessel with their parents. Among their offspring were Lujayne and Inyri, who both ultimately became pilots in Rogue Squadron, the elite group of starfighter pilots serving the New Republic Defense Force.
Kassar passed down the knowledge of various trade skills that he taught to the inmates to his own children. He specifically instructed Lujayne in the art of landspeeder repair. Her expertise in the repair and maintenance of T-47 airspeeders proved invaluable during her time with Rogue Squadron.
In 6.5 ABY, Kassar and his family suffered a devastating loss with the death of his daughter, Lujayne. She was tragically killed in her sleep by Imperial stormtroopers during a surprise covert attack on Talasea.
He was only marginally less concerned when his younger daughter, Inyri, became involved with Zekka Thyne, a dangerous [Black Sun](/article/black_sun-legends] criminal, as his "glitterstim [cutter](/article/cutter]" and lover. Inyri insisted on leaving Kessel with Zekka when he was selected by Wedge to be transported to Coruscant. Despite Myda's pleas to Wedge to separate the two during Zekka's extraction, Kassar argued that Inyri should be allowed to make her own choices, mirroring the autonomy granted to the inmates he instructed after they completed their training.
