Kerse's unit was a group of highly skilled Sith troopers from the special forces division, designated as a squad, who fought for the Imperial Military during the time of the Great Galactic War. During the year 3653 BBY, they were involved in the Sacking of Coruscant. Captain Kerse led these soldiers under the command of the Sith Lord known as Darth Malgus.
