Sith troopers, Imperial troopers, or Imperial soldiers as they were also known, comprised the infantry forces of the re-established Sith Empire's military. During the Great Galactic War and the subsequent Cold War, these soldiers functioned as the primary invasion force for the Imperial Military's campaigns, while simultaneously defending the Empire's controlled territories. The Enlisted class, a social stratum within the Empire designated for military service under the command of the Sith, provided the manpower for the Imperial soldiers through conscription. On the battlefield, these soldiers frequently fought alongside Imperial guardsmen, bounty hunters, agents from the Intelligence Ministry, Imperial commandos, Sith Warriors and Inquisitors. A specialized variant of the standard trooper, known as the Imperial heavy infantry soldier, fulfilled a similar but more focused role.
Odile Vaiken, regarded as the architect of the Imperial Army, the naval armada, and the first Grand Moff of the Empire, was responsible for establishing both the conscription system and the training regimen undergone by these soldiers. As the Empire expanded its reach, Imperial soldiers played a crucial role in securing new territories and preparing for the impending conflict with the Galactic Republic. Early in the war, the troops successfully captured the Aparo sector and the remainder of the Tingel Arm, quickly following these victories with contributions to wins on Korriban and Begeren. Later, Imperial soldiers participated in the unsuccessful assaults on Alderaan and Rhen Var, as well as the war's concluding engagement, the Sacking of Coruscant. Due to the Sith Empire's Humanocentrism, all Imperial Soldiers were initially Human; however, this policy shifted during the events of Makeb, years later during the Cold War, when the Empire began permitting aliens to enlist.
