Keylander Station, existing in orbit around the planet Makeb, functioned as the main space station throughout the Galactic War. This conflict pitted the Galactic Republic against the Sith Empire. In approximately 3638 BBY, the Hutt Cartel launched an invasion of both the Makeb system and Makeb itself, resulting in the conquering and subsequent occupation of the world. Reacting to this emergency, Leontyne Saresh, the Supreme Chancellor of the Republic, called upon the Republic's celebrated figures to gather at Keylander Station. The goal was to convene with her and the Republic's leading officers to devise a strategy for resolving the dire situation.
