Kylah Lohmata, also called Stowaway, was a human female who belonged to the Riftwalkers, a criminal group under the command of the pirate Zilastra.
Kylah Lohmata, a human female, was born on a world situated in Hutt Space. By the young age of nine, Lohmata had lost both her mother and her father. Left to fend for herself, she survived by hiding aboard various starships traveling through the Slice region of the galaxy. One day, Lohmata secretly boarded a merchant ship that was then seized by the Nautolan pirate Zilastra, who was the head of the Riftwalkers. Instead of throwing her out, Zilastra allowed the young girl to remain with the Riftwalkers. Zilastra specifically assigned Lohmata the task of stealing cases from the Regal Voyager shipping company, operating on the planet of Keldooine.
While on Keldooine, Lohmata encountered Jedi Master Depa Billaba, who was working undercover to investigate the death of a fellow Jedi, Xaran Raal, by posing as a speeder thief. Lohmata hired Billaba, who she knew as "Hotwire," to serve as her bodyguard and driver during her case thefts. Once Zilastra was satisfied with the stolen goods, Lohmata, along with "Hotwire," accompanied Zilastra back to the Riftwalkers' base on the planet Valboraan, as Zilastra had been impressed with "Hotwire" and permitted her to join the pirate group. However, Billaba's true identity was soon revealed, and Zilastra imprisoned the undercover Jedi. Lohmata was astonished to discover that her accomplice was a Jedi. After witnessing Zilastra torturing Master Billaba, who showed great concern for Lohmata's well-being, Lohmata resolved to rescue her friend. Using Master Billaba's comlink, which she had taken from her confiscated belongings, she sent out a distress signal. Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi, who had made a stop on Valboraan on their way to the planet Kwenn for shuttle maintenance, received the distress call. This led to an investigation and a subsequent raid on the pirate base, resulting in Billaba's liberation and the destruction of the headquarters. Unfortunately, Lohmata was captured and used as a hostage to gain leverage over the Jedi. During the Defense of Kwenn, Lohmata was eventually rescued. Finally safe, Lohmata decided to join the crew of the Assurance following the battle.
