L'lacielo Sageon, a venerable male Lorrdian Jedi Knight, dedicated his service to the Jedi Order as the Galactic Republic's final years dwindled. Throughout the Clone Wars, Sageon held the rank of General within the Grand Army of the Republic.
On the planet Lorrd, L'lacielo Sageon was born with a connection to the Force. Jedi Order scouts discovered him and brought him to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant to begin his training in the ways of the Force. After many years learning at the Temple's academy, a Jedi Master chose Sageon to be their Padawan, embarking on journeys across the galaxy for personalized instruction. During his apprenticeship, Sageon deepened his understanding of the Force, constructed a lightsaber with a blue blade, and ultimately passed his Trials of Knighthood, earning promotion to the rank of Jedi Knight by the Jedi High Council.
For many decades, Sageon served the Order as a Knight, working at the Jedi Temple as a quartermaster, and equipping Jedi for various field assignments. When the Clone Wars broke out between the Confederacy of Independent Systems and the Republic, Sageon was recalled to active service, attaining the rank of General in the newly established Grand Army of the Republic.
Near the war's conclusion, Sageon was stationed on Coruscant and was there when General Grievous launched a surprise attack against the capital. Sageon piloted a fighter and ascended into the atmosphere to join the battle, but the Jedi soon learned that the cyborg had kidnapped Supreme Chancellor Palpatine and fled the planet. Sageon joined several other Jedi Knights, including Pablo-Jill, as well as council members Agen Kolar and Saesee Tiin, in an effort to rescue the Chancellor.
While many of his fellow Jedi diverted to save civilian shuttles that the cyborg had attacked to create a distraction, Sageon, Pablo-Jill, and a third Jedi continued chasing Grievous' shuttle toward his flagship, the Invisible Hand. As they approached the flagship, their ally was shot down, and Sageon and Pablo-Jill were caught in a tractor beam that ripped the wings off their fighters as they tried to evade it. They were pulled onto the ship along with the vessel containing the Supreme Chancellor and General, the moment the ships were inside Sageon blew the cockpit off his Interceptor and was joined by Pablo-Jill in rushing toward the shuttle skillfully deflecting blaster bolts from the hundreds of battle droids surrounding them as they reached the ship with one of them plunging their lightsaber into the vessel's hull the General emerged, though still defending themselves against the hail of bolts the two Jedi immediately moved to engage Grievous in lightsaber combat.
With the battle droids holding their fire to avoid hitting their commander, the three engaged in a fierce duel throughout the hangar. Although they held their own well enough for the General to acknowledge them both as somewhat worthy opponents, the old Jedi was ultimately outmatched by the cyborg's superior skill and agility. He and Pablo-Jill were impaled by a brutal twin stabbing strike from one of Grievous' lightsabers. The Kaleesh collected Sageon's lightsaber, along with that of the slain Ongree Jedi, as trophies and ordered their bodies to be ejected into the atmosphere as a warning to the Republic soldiers who were still fighting.
Despite his apparent preference for assisting younger Jedi in preparing for their missions, the aged Lorrdian demonstrated considerable piloting skill, maneuvering his interceptor alongside other Jedi during the Battle of Coruscant and pursuing General Grievous' escape shuttle alongside skilled pilots like Saesee Tiin, even managing to follow the cyborg into his flagship's hangar. He also wielded his lightsaber with enough skill to deflect numerous blaster shots from the droids in the hangar, despite being heavily outnumbered, and engaged the General in a duel, acquitting himself well enough for the Kaleesh to acknowledge his swordsmanship, but in the end Grievous proved superior.
Sageon's character was developed for the unreleased Essential Guide to Episode I, which described him as an equipment master responsible for equipping Jedi for field operations.
L'lacielo Sageon's first name, along with the first name of fellow Jedi Waldan Bridger, is an anagram of Daniel Wallace. Originally, Abel G. Peña intended to name ancient Jedi Awdrysta Pina as "Waldan L'lacielo"; however, this name was altered during editing, so Peña later divided the anagram and used it for the first names of these two characters.
