A specific type of starship, known as a leech vessel, possessed the capability to board other vessels by breaching their hull directly. In approximately 18 BBY, Echo, Fireball, and Nemec employed a leech vessel, specifically the Remora-one, in their attack on the prisoner transport ship which occurred on Balmorra. This was done to board a Gozanti-class cruiser and rescue three clones who were being held by the forces of the Galactic Empire.
