The game progresses in a vertical, top-to-bottom direction, with the firing mechanisms linked directly to the vehicle's movements. Before embarking on a mission, players can accumulate studs to enhance and upgrade their Microfighters. Each planet culminates in a unique boss encounter. The game is exclusively for single-player experiences.

Development

The announcement of LEGO Star Wars: Microfighters occurred on January 24, 2014, accompanied by the release of a cinematic trailer on the official LEGO YouTube Channel. The game's purpose is to serve as a companion to the Star Wars Microfighters LEGO Sets currently available for purchase. Traveller's Tales is responsible for its development, while LucasArts served as publisher on January 30, 2014. It is designed for iOS devices and encompasses the timeline of the Star Wars movies.

Continuity

Several LEGO Star Wars sets are adapted into the game, notably the Rebel Scout Speeder. The V-19 Torrent makes an appearance as well; however, in an inexplicable design choice, the lower wing is positioned on top during flight, which is contrary to the V-19's established flight configuration.
