LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles, which is also known as The New Yoda Chronicles, is an animated series composed of seven parts that premiered on Cartoon Network on both May 29, 2013 and on Disney XD on May 29, 2014. In addition to the seven television episodes, there is an eleven-part "mini-movie" web TV series that was launched at the same time. Michael Price, the writer of LEGO Star Wars: The Padawan Menace and LEGO Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Out also wrote this series.
THE YODA CHRONICLES is a brand new LEGO Star Wars story told in three animated TV specials, making for an epic LEGO Star Wars return that is thrilling, funny and action-packed! The one and only Yoda—the Jedi Master who has seen and done it all, and taught generations of Jedi Knights—stars in an all-new adventure that is set in the "Prequel" Star Wars timeline. Yoda, with the assistance of a new group of Padawans, is leading the Jedi in a critical battle to prevent Darth Sidious and his followers from developing a new super-weapon capable of destroying the Republic and securing victory for the forces of Evil.
The LEGO group was given complete creative control over the storyline by Lucasfilm Ltd.. The creative team ensured that the visuals consistently resembled LEGO bricks and incorporated humor into the narrative.
Cartoon Network aired the first three episodes between May 29 and November 27, 2013. The remaining four episodes were broadcast on Disney XD under the name The New Yoda Chronicles (without the LEGO logo, since Cartoon Network possessed the broadcasting rights to the name LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles) between May 4 and November 23, 2014.
The first pair of episodes was made available on DVD on September 11, 2013, while the last four were released on DVD on September 15, 2015. There have been several mini-movies released that are linked to the main series; episodes 4-6 are connected to "Escape from the Jedi Temple". As of January 2016, "Attack of the Jedi," the third episode, had not yet been released on DVD.
The initial trio of mini-movies came out alongside the first three television episodes. The latter set of eight mini-movies are tied to the remaining quartet of episodes.
The episodes of the New Yoda Chronicles are accessible on the Disney+ streaming platform, which was launched on November 12, 2019. Disney+ also features an alternative version of "Clash of the Skywalkers" entitled "Duel of the Skywalkers."
