Lexhannen Torlock (droid)

Lexhannen, a male Human replica droid, functioned as one of two droids engineered to closely resemble the real Imperial Governor Lexhannen Torlock and his offspring, Frija.

Biography

Scientist Massad Thrumble was the creator of both Lexhannen and his artificial "daughter". These droids were commissioned by Governor Torlock as a safety measure in the event of an attack on Corulag by the Rebellion. However, the threat to Torlock materialized not from the Rebels, but from his own daughter, who plotted with Admiral Droon, her lover, to seize control of Corulag. Torlock activated the two HRDs and escaped from the planet, utilizing the droids as diversions.

The two droids eventually became separated, and Lexhannen was apprehended by Admiral Droon's forces. Discovering Lexhannen's true nature, Droon had his technicians delve into Lexhannen's memory banks. The search revealed the existence of Lexhannen's "daughter," prompting Droon to organize a search party to capture the droid. Lexhannen was imprisoned in Droon's dungeon while the search for the droid continued. Upon capturing the false Frija, Droon devised a plan to stage a battle in which Lexhannen would be "killed," thus eliminating all traces of the two HRDs. Droon intended to then supplant Torlock as the new Imperial Governor of Corulag. To simulate the rebel attack, Droon employed Black Sun assassins disguised as Rebels.

However, Darth Vader and his operative, Wrenga Jixton, unexpectedly intervened in Droon's plans. Jix eliminated the assassins and rescued Frija. With the droid's assistance, he exposed the conspiracy, liberated Lexhannen, and captured Admiral Droon. Jix transported his prisoner and the two droids back to Coruscant. After refueling their ship, Jix instructed them to locate a remote planet and remain there. Although Lexhannen was eager to distance himself from organic beings, he permitted his daughter to bid farewell to Jix. Subsequently, the two embarked for the Outer Rim Territories, ultimately settling on the icy planet of Hoth.

Upon their arrival on the ice planet, Lexhannen destroyed their communication devices and constructed a shelter for himself and Frija, intending for them to live out their lives in isolation. However, Frija yearned for companionship and persistently pestered her father, prompting Lexhannen to repeatedly remind her of the inherent evils of organic lifeforms. Lexhannen's teachings proved ineffective, and one day, Frija brought the droid C-3PO and his master, Luke Skywalker, back to their dwelling.

The two had crash-landed on Hoth, and Frija, driven by her desire for a companion, had rescued them. Lexhannen became enraged with Frija, ordering her to dismantle the droid for parts and abandon Skywalker to the frigid conditions outside. Unwilling to succumb to freezing to death, Skywalker confronted Lexhannen, disarming him. He formulated a plan to combine his damaged communicator from his ship with the droids' damaged communicator to signal the Rebellion. He confined Lexhannen to a storage closet and assigned C-3PO to guard him. Subsequently, he and Frija departed to retrieve the damaged communicator from Luke's crashed ship.

However, Lexhannen possessed further resources and retrieved a concealed weapon to free himself. Lexhannen pursued Frija and Skywalker with the intention of preventing the transmission. Upon arriving, he attempted to kill Skywalker with a blaster, but Frija intervened, shielding him from the shot. During the ensuing exchange of fire, Lexhannen realized that Skywalker had repaired the communicator and targeted the device. Unfortunately, Lexhannen's shot missed its mark and struck his daughter in the back, causing severe damage to her internal components.

Overcome with grief, Lexhannen held Skywalker responsible for his daughter's demise. Firing indiscriminately, Lexhannen attempted to kill the young Jedi. Left with no alternative, Skywalker struck down Lexhannen with his lightsaber. The attack also revealed the true nature of Lexhannen and his daughter as HRDs. Skywalker buried the two droids on Hoth before the Millennium Falcon arrived to rescue him and C-3PO.
