Remulus Dreypa, a former Dark Jedi from a bygone era, unleashes his Leviathan Sithspawn forces against both his former allies and the pursuing army of the Lost Tribe of Sith. These creatures possess the horrifying ability to drain the life force from living beings using their blister traps. At this juncture, Dreypa and his Leviathans find themselves under assault from the Doomed—the marooned descendants of ancient Dark Jedi and Jedi originating from the Hundred-Year Darkness—who are mounted upon uvaks, winged reptilian steeds. The two main characters, the Sith exile Parlan Spinner and the princess Takara Hilts, engage in a personal confrontation.
Their duel is cut short when a Leviathan attacks Takara's mother, the Grand Consort Iliana Hilts. Takara defeats the creature, rescuing Iliana and earning her trust. The three manage to escape the conflict on an uvak, soon joined by Kaliska, the leader of the Doomed. By now, Dreypa has regained control of the situation, eliminating the majority of the Doomed. Kaliska reveals that the Doomed's forebears concealed an ancient Jedi starship beneath Tahv, the Lost Tribe's capital city. Aware of Dreypa's aspirations to return to the stars, Kaliska persuades Spinner to destroy the vessel. Spinner agrees and returns to Tahv on an uvak with the weakened Iliana. Concurrently, Takara and Kaliska remain behind to confront Dreypa and his Leviathans. Kaliska is consumed by one of Dreypa's Leviathans, but Takara engages Dreypa in combat.
In the meantime, Spinner arrives in Tahv, and a frail Iliana is reunited with her aged husband, the Grand Lord Varner Hilts. However, Spinner breaks his promise to destroy the Last Hope and ventures into the stars, seeking to realize his ancestor's dream of returning to the broader galaxy.
