Luke Skywalker, a male human, owned a toy T-16 skyhopper, a model of the same vehicle. In 9 BBY, the Jawa named Teeka brought the toy to the Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi who was residing in his cave on Tatooine, and Obi-Wan purchased it. Kenobi placed the toy outside of Lars Homestead, but Owen Lars, Skywalker's uncle, gave it back to him the following day, warning the Jedi Master to keep his distance from his family. Later, after Reva Sevander, a former Inquisitor working for the Galactic Empire, attacked the Lars family, attempting to kill Skywalker, Lars allowed Kenobi to meet with Skywalker, and Kenobi gifted the toy to the young boy. Years passed, and Darth Vader paid a visit to the homestead, where ZED-6-7 was seen holding the skyhopper toy while inspecting the premises.

The toy T-16 skyhopper belonging to Luke Skywalker initially appeared in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which was released in 1977 and served as the inaugural film in the Star Wars original trilogy. During the production of the Obi-Wan Kenobi television show, the prop department created a damaged T-16 skyhopper toy prop for use in the series. The team researched the original prop and used it as a reference for the recreation.
