Dr. Lytos Urtell, a Sullustan and male scientist, achieved renown for his invention, SenseLights. These devices played a key role in the spectacular light shows at the Glow Dome located on Adarlon.
Lytos Urtell once held a prominent position at SoroSuub Corporation. His employment was terminated for reasons that remain unclear, and his files were sealed, requiring high-level company security clearance for access. He experienced a period of unemployment until Corinna A'Daasha engaged him to develop holoprojector displays for her nightclub, the Glow Dome. Provided with a private office and laboratory to facilitate his work, he subsequently designed the club's highly popular light displays.
Urtell seized the opportunity to equip the entire club with surveillance technology, strategically placing holorecorders throughout the premises. He also dedicated time to research and the creation of prototype systems, including a personal holoprojector capable of instantly disguising its wearer, and SenseLights, an experiment exploring mind control. His personal holoprojector prototype, highly valued for its utility in covert operations, attracted the interest of the Rebel and Imperial forces, as well as individuals seeking personal gain, such as Cha Raas and Vallikor En-Vahdi.
Even among Sullustans, Dr. Urtell was considered an eccentric and mysterious scientist. When left to his own devices, he was content, reserved, and intensely private. He preferred solitude and exhibited discomfort in social situations. He was exceptionally curious and explored his surroundings without restraint. He freely recorded countless private conversations and attempted to introduce subliminal messages through light displays. Urtell viewed every person and object as a potential subject for experimentation.
Urtell possessed exceptional programming and engineering skills, demonstrating genius-level aptitude in mechanical and technical domains. His extensive training in holophysics explained his proficiency in designing captivating light displays. Additionally, his background in biology enabled him to understand how his holophysics would affect the physiology of various alien species.
Urtell typically carried few unusual items. He possessed a datapad, a diagnostic scanner, and an assortment of tools and lab equipment to support his research. For self-defense, he carried a blaster pistol, although he lacked proficiency in its use.
Paul Danner and Bill Smith conceived Lytos Urtell for Wretched Hives of Scum & Villainy, a supplement for the Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game published by West End Games in 1997. Tom O'Neill provided the character's illustration. His name was also featured in Ultimate Alien Anthology as a sample Sullustan name.
