A lightsaber was constructed by the Jedi Master Mace Windu before he became a member of the Jedi High Council. This weapon, intended for training, featured a purple blade activated by a switch and lightsaber crystals that Windu himself empowered.
The lightsaber was lent by Master Windu to a Jedi Padawan who met their end on a mission to the Outer Rim. Following this, the weapon changed owners multiple times, eventually ending up with the Omwati Dark Jedi Bleth Fahr around 31 BBY. By that time, Windu no longer anticipated its retrieval.
The practice lightsaber of Mace Windu made its debut in Coruscani Dawn, a Star Wars Roleplaying Game scenario for the Living Force campaign by Wizards of the Coast RPGA. Morrie Mullins introduced it in 2002. Jedi player characters who successfully finished the scenario during its initial showing at the Celebration II event received the lightsaber.
