Over time, Machineville came to be viewed as a protective zone dividing these camps from the remainder of the Lower City. In 3963 BBY, the Mandalorians invaded Taris, inflicting widespread devastation across the urban landscape. Thousands of Tarisians sought sanctuary within the recently deserted Lhosan Industries factory near Machineville, only to have their refuge destroyed by the Mandalorians. The resulting loss of life was reportedly substantial.
The comic Knights of the Old Republic 3, penned by John Jackson Miller and released on March 29, 2006, featured the initial mention of Machineville.
