Magnus Horn, a planet, was the location of a devastating loss for the Rebel Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry, an event referred to as the decimation, which occurred before the year 3 ABY. In the wake of this decimation, the Alliance tried to redistribute the remaining troops, but Micha Evon, who held the rank of captain in the 61st, struggled to maintain the company's unity, preventing its complete destruction. After Evon and several of his officers died in 3 ABY, Hazram Namir, a soldier, likened this loss to the earlier decimation on Magnus Horn, viewing it as a significant setback for the company. Pol Andrissus, a trooper within the 61st, also recalled Magnus Horn and Evon's subsequent efforts during a discussion at the captain's funeral.
The 2015 novel, Battlefront: Twilight Company, authored by Alexander Freed, included a reference to Magnus Horn.
