Prior to Anakin Skywalker's reconstruction of C-3PO on Tatooine, and as early as 32 BBY, the protocol droid C-3PO functioned as a diplomatic aide to the chief negotiator of the Manakron system; a detail he later recounted while undergoing torture at the hands of bounty hunter Cad Bane during the Clone Wars.
The initial reference to the Manakron system occurred in "Evil Plans," the eighth installment of third season of the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, penned by Steve Mitchell and Craig Van Sickle, and broadcast for the first time on November 5, 2010. The concept of C-3PO's prior role as chief negotiator within the Manakron system bolsters the original notes belonging to Star Wars creator George Lucas for A New Hope, which indicated that C-3PO had existed for over 100 years by the time of the film, implying that Anakin Skywalker did not completely construct him.
