New Mandalorian customs department
The customs department, serving as the law enforcement agency for the New Mandalorians, was responsible for enforcing trade and customs regulations on the planet of Mandalore throughout the Clone Wars.
Description
Mandalore Customs bore the responsibility of supervising all customs-related activities on the planet Mandalore. To fulfill this duty, they employed customs officials and officers. These officials utilized datapads to monitor schedules and carry out inspections. The customs officials were recognized by their teal uniforms, complete with a utility belt, and the emblem of Mandalore Customs displayed on the upper arms.
History
The operations of Mandalore Customs on the planet Mandalore had already commenced by the time the Clone Wars began. Following Duchess Satine Kryze's success in maintaining Mandalore's neutrality during the Clone Wars, established trade routes diminished. Consequently, a black market conspiracy started to take hold, and the potential for greed and corruption within the New Mandalorian society began to jeopardize the stability of the planet.
During the unfolding of the black market conspiracy, a customs official was performing a routine inspection on a shipment arriving from a Shekelesh-class freight gunship when the ringleader, Tee Va, attempted to bribe him. Although protocols dictated that nearly five times the number of officers should have been present at the docks, they were instead preoccupied with the arrival of Senator Padmé Amidala. The customs official succumbed to the bribe and permitted the Mooga smuggling ring to proceed with their illegal unloading of tea and slabin. The official instructed Va to contact him directly for future shipments.
Eventually, Duchess Satine, accompanied by Senator Amidala and a Mandalorian Protector, investigated the Sundari shipping docks and witnessed the same customs official accepting yet another bribe. Subsequently, Duchess Satine and Amidala, along with Captain Patrok Ru-Saxon and additional Mandalorian Protectors, raided a warehouse the following day. They successfully dismantled the smuggling operation, which had been responsible for a widespread illness affecting children across the planet.
