Mandator-class Dreadnaught

The Mandator-class Dreadnought, a type of dreadnought within the Galactic Empire's naval forces, belonged to the Mandator line. This Mandator-class ship was part of a family of Imperial Navy dreadnoughts, which also included the Bellator-class dreadnought and the Assertor-class Star Dreadnought, the largest of these vessels. In 0 BBY, General Jan Dodonna dispatched a rebel message theorizing that a capital ship equivalent in size to, or larger than, a Mandator-class Dreadnought would be required to power a superlaser. However, he also believed that even with that power, the laser would lack the necessary strength to obliterate a planet.

Behind the scenes

Within current Star Wars canon, the Mandator-class Dreadnought made its debut in the Star Wars Roleplaying sourcebook titled Lead by Example. This book was released by Fantasy Flight Games on February 4, 2016, for the Star Wars: Age of Rebellion roleplaying game system. The ship's full identification occurred later in the reference book Star Wars: Rogue One: Rebel Dossier, penned by Jason Fry and published on December 16 of the same year. In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Mandator-class Star Dreadnaught was initially referenced in the 2002 reference book Star Wars: Attack of the Clones Incredible Cross-Sections, authored by Curtis Saxton.
