A speeder bike with the golden maru design.
The "golden maru" painting style takes its name from the being known as Maru.
In 3 ABY, after winning a Kessel Sabacc match against Sheriff [Quint Cresadde] (/article/quint_cresadde) in Wayfar, a town located on the Outer Rim Territories planet of Tatooine, the scoundrel Kay Vess collected the necessary components to apply this paint scheme to her S57 Cardinal speeder bike.
The first canon reference to Maru was in the 2024 video game Star Wars Outlaws, developed by Massive Entertainment, where it appeared as a customizable paint job for the player's speeder bike.
The 2002 Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Prima's Official Strategy Guide, published by Prima Games for the Star Wars: The Clone Wars video game of the same year, marked the initial mention of Maru within Star Wars Legends, and served as the creature's debut appearance in the Legends continuity.
