Mavrix Varad

Mavrix Varad was a warrior of the Mandalorian people, identified as male, who existed during the Cold War. This era was defined by the conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire. As the chieftain overseeing Clan Varad, Mavrix was widely regarded as bloodthirsty by many. He commanded his clan in a series of incursions launched from their concealed bases within the Tamarin sector. Varad subjected his clan members to rigorous and unforgiving combat tests. Those failing to meet his stringent requirements were relegated to the role of sparring partners or hunting targets for the clan's younger, less experienced warriors. The unconventional and extreme beliefs held by Varad put him at odds with the then-reigning Mand'alor, known as Mandalore the Vindicated. Mandalore held Varad in low esteem and forbade members of Clan Varad from entering the Mandalorian-controlled fortress on Geonosis.

Personality and traits

Mavrix possessed a bloodthirsty nature and an insatiable appetite for battle, leading to disputes with Mandalore the Vindicated, who viewed him as nothing more than a rabid beast.

Varad demanded only the highest level of performance from his clan's warriors. Those who failed to achieve his expectations would ultimately become practice for younger members of Varad's clan, either as sparring partners or hunting targets. His eagerness for bloodshed grew increasingly difficult to contain following the signing of the treaty between the Republic and the Sith Empire. Eventually, he resolved to secede from Mandalore's command and oppose him. Despite his radical and dishonorable characteristics, Varad displayed no fear of death when confronted by the Republic and Sith Empire, before his eventual defeat.

Behind the scenes

Mavrix Varad's initial appearance occurred within the Star Wars Legends storyline in the MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic, developed by BioWare.
