MFB-4 Mobile Repulsor Base

The MFB-4 Mobile Repulsor Platform represented a specific model of repulsorlift platform utilized by the forces of the Galactic Empire. These platforms served the purposes of initial reconnaissance and surveying expeditions, while also fulfilling supporting roles during planetary occupations.

History

During the era of the Galactic Civil War, the Empire strategically deployed an MFB-4 platform upon the water-covered planet known as Alluuvia, effectively establishing it as their central operational hub on the world. However, this platform became the target of an assault launched by a squad of Rebel Alliance operatives, who coordinated their efforts with a contingent of Ithorian pilgrims and a group of Anguilla warriors. As a direct consequence, Imperial forces were compelled to withdraw from Alluuvia.

Characteristics

The external structure of the base incorporated the majority of the MFB-4's extensive and lethal defensive systems, with a particular emphasis on countering aerial incursions. Positioned at each of the four corners were four laser cannons, each boasting a range of six kilometers and operated by dedicated gunnery crews. The heavy turbolaser, centrally situated, possessed the capability to engage targets at a distance of thirty kilometers and was manned by a team of four dedicated gunners. At opposite ends of the base, a pair of sensor towers, each measuring twenty meters in height, were responsible for detecting approaching enemy forces. Furthermore, an array of short-range sensor systems, distributed across the base's exterior, were capable of identifying operatives attempting to infiltrate the facility covertly. The base's shield generators were strategically positioned on the upper surface of the structure, generating an energy field designed to deflect the majority of incoming enemy fire. Finally, a landing pad was situated atop the base, providing access to the interior via a secured access hatch.

Emergency access panels and doors facilitated entry to the weaponry, sensors, and shield generators; however, these were secured through the use of rank cylinders. While it was possible to circumvent this security measure or, through brute force, detach the access panels, such actions would trigger an alert within the base's computer room.

Interior Layout

Each MFB-4 base was internally organized into three distinct levels, interconnected by a central turbolift that extended upwards to the exterior landing pad. Rooms of critical importance, including the computer control room, fighter hangar, armory, detention block, and vehicle storage bays, were protected by blast doors that could only be opened with the appropriate rank cylinder. Although an enemy operative could potentially bypass these safeguards, any failure to do so would activate an alarm within the computer control room.

Level 1

The uppermost level served as the personnel deck, primarily dedicated to accommodating the base's support staff and housing other essential functions. The computer control room functioned as the central command hub of the base, overseeing all operations ranging from life support systems to the repulsorlift engines and shield generator. It was continuously staffed by a team of four technicians and a pair of troopers.

Adjacent to this was the communications room, manned by four technicians and one trooper, which managed all of the base's sensor and communications equipment, including subspace communications to neighboring star systems. Additionally, there was a TIE/LN starfighter hangar capable of housing twelve fighters and providing support from six technicians; fighter deployments and retrievals were facilitated by the topside launch chute.

Living accommodations for the base's 120 support personnel were provided by four personnel quarters, while two pairs of offices and meeting rooms were reserved for use by high-ranking individuals stationed at the base. The computers within these offices were connected to those in the computer control room, although access required the correct password. Furthermore, a couple of storage rooms were allocated for common supplies such as food, clothing, and repair parts. Finally, a galley capable of feeding 300 individuals simultaneously and a lounge for off-duty personnel to unwind, whether by viewing holovids or engaging in a game of sabacc, were also present.

Level 2

The barracks deck served as the primary housing area for the Imperial Army contingent stationed at the base. Eight separate rooms provided living space for up to 300 troopers, while separate mess and training halls catered to their daily needs. Additionally, a medical bay staffed by four MD-5 medical droids and equipped with two bacta tanks, two complete surgery suites, and four recovery rooms was available. A droid bay provided storage racks for numerous droids of varying sizes, along with power rechargers and a comprehensive repair and maintenance facility.

The armory served as the storage location for the base's extensive collection of blaster rifles, pistols, grenades, and heavy weapons, as well as blaster power packs and a recharging station. A single trooper was assigned to guard access to the armory. Finally, a detention block was utilized to hold any captured prisoners, with at least four troopers maintaining constant surveillance over the inmates.

Level 3

The vehicle bay deck contained a pair of vehicle storage bays capable of accommodating a variety of vehicles. For instance, on an aquatic planet, a bay could be equipped with racks to hold fifteen TIE fighter boats or a combination of 100 single-person waveskimmers and fifteen Aquatic Scout Ships. These vehicles were launched via the base's underside launch chute, which could be adjusted to accommodate different vehicle types. Additionally, another pair of storage rooms was located on this deck for storing common goods, as well as a mustering hall used to assemble troops and vehicles for deployment. Finally, two research labs were present, dedicated to a range of scientific endeavors. Access to these labs was controlled by a simple entry code, and their computers were linked to those in the computer control lab, although a password was required to access them.
