The Mark II Mining Droid represented an evolution in mining droid technology, taking the form of a bipedal machine constructed for the purpose of excavating and harvesting precious minerals and energy sources.
Unlike their predecessors, the Mark I models, which were smaller and moved on four legs, the Mark II droids were intentionally built with a humanoid form factor. Furthermore, the Mark II droid incorporated a Mining laser that offered a significant upgrade in power compared to the Mark I droids' mining tools.
The Mark II mining droids saw widespread deployment throughout the period of the Old Republic era. A substantial number of these droids were put to work at the Peragus Mining Facility, where they were tasked with the excavation and processing of fuel destined for sale beyond the planet. During the year 3951 BBY, a number of these droids underwent reprogramming at the hands of an HK-50 assassin droid unit, resulting in their turning against and eliminating the miners stationed at the Peragus Facility. Ultimately, these droids met their end when the Harbinger, under the control of Darth Sion, targeted the Ebon Hawk but missed, instead obliterating Peragus II.
