During the final decades of the Galactic Republic, a Falleen female of unknown age but undeniable elegance resided in Bartyn's Landing, a town situated on Lamaredd. She was known as Miss Mylla. Her ownership and management extended to the most frequented and well-regarded establishment in the Center Sphere District, namely Miss Mylla's Saloon. This establishment functioned as both a lodging and an entertainment venue, staffed by scantily clad women. Her reputation was built on the exceptional care she provided to both her staff and patrons.
Despite Miss Mylla's repeated expressions of affection towards the local Security Chief, Mix Liddell, a Mon Calamari, and even with his reciprocation of these feelings, their relationship defied conventional romantic norms.
Sometime prior to 69 BBY, Miss Mylla, a stunning Falleen woman of indeterminate age, disembarked from a passenger vessel onto the planet Lamaredd. Accompanying her were a group of approximately twelve skilled and attractive Falleen escorts, and she possessed considerable financial resources. She subsequently established herself in the coastal capital, Bartyn's Landing. Throughout her time there, she was invariably accompanied by a powerful bouncer, "Bantha" Burloo, a taciturn Chagrian.
The particulars of Miss Mylla's past remained undisclosed, a state she preferred, yet this did not prevent the proliferation of local rumors. Speculation suggested she had been a concubine of a Falleen Royal family member, having recently fallen from favor, or perhaps a celebrated holofilms actress seeking refuge from the wrath of a jealous spouse.
At some juncture, she acquired the local tavern, then a dilapidated structure, and swiftly transformed it into her own enterprise, Miss Mylla's Saloon. This establishment operated around the clock as a gambling den, bar, nightclub, and budget hotel. Miss Mylla's female companions served as scantily dressed waitresses, providing additional services, discreetly referred to as "the work," in the private chambers located on the upper level. Burloo's constant presence at the entrance ensured security in the broader area, save for occasions when he was ejecting an unwanted customer. Miss Mylla also ensured that each girl had a concealed knife for emergencies.
Miss Mylla's business thrived from its inception, necessitating the hiring of additional waitresses. It became the most popular and bustling establishment in the Center Sphere District. Her primary competitor was The Even Cut Sabacc Parlor and Casino, a gambling establishment situated directly across from her main entrance, managed by the astute Nyubuna Bulul, whose business acumen rivaled Miss Mylla's.
Numerous local dignitaries, including Administrator Guther Bartyn, were frequent patrons of the Saloon. The Security Chief, a Mon Calamari named Mix Liddell, valued Miss Mylla's companionship above all other offerings, and, as she held him in similar regard, they often spent evenings in conversation.
Whenever a waitress expressed a desire to leave, Miss Mylla ensured her future prospects, providing opportunities for education or suitable employment elsewhere. On one occasion, she arranged a girl's marriage to a Falleen Prince. Later, around 29 BBY, a Human girl employed by Miss Mylla decided to depart, and Miss Mylla, agreeing with her decision, arranged for her transport to a trusted business associate residing in Cape Regret, a remote port on Lamaredd. Miss Mylla engaged an independent team to transport the girl as a "special package."
Shortly thereafter, the indigenous sentient species Menahuun, believed to have vanished centuries prior, commenced clandestine attacks on Bartyn's Landing and its environs. At this juncture, two of Miss Mylla's girls and their client disappeared in The Maw range, near the Landing. She conceded that similar incidents had occurred previously, yet she remained concerned for her protégées.
Miss Mylla also faced challenges with the customs authorities at the spaceport. Security personnel employed by Outer Rim Oreworks had established a smuggling operation and intercepted shipments of Corellian brandy intended for Miss Mylla's personal consumption. While Miss Mylla suspected the truth, she hesitated to involve Chief Liddell, fearing it might force him to confront his superiors at ORO. Instead, she opted to enlist independent assistance, offering either one thousand credits or room and board, at their discretion, for the recovery of her goods.
Concurrently, Liddell hired external individuals as his new Seconds and offered to cover their accommodation costs—excluding additional services—at Miss Mylla's Saloon, confident that Miss Mylla would not refuse.
Miss Mylla possessed an air of refinement, familiar with the nuances of Royalty and nobility, and possessed exceptional expertise in her chosen field. She also excelled at acquiring information, often from customers in varying states of relaxation, and seemed to possess comprehensive knowledge of Lamaredd. A polyglot, she was fluent in Basic, Mon Calamarian, Chagri, and Falleen, though she could only write in the latter. Like most Falleens, Miss Mylla could manipulate others using her natural pheromones.
Miss Mylla owned expensive attire and a personal repulsor-yacht, in addition to her business. She typically carried a knife, but her preferred weapon was a hold-out blaster concealed on her person. While blasters were uncommon on Lamaredd due to the scarcity of energy magazines, Miss Mylla was among the few who possessed one.
Miss Mylla held her employees, whom she referred to as "her girls," in high regard. She ensured that customers treated them with respect, utilizing Burloo for enforcement, and she also prioritized their well-being. She encouraged the waitresses to pursue education and alternative careers. Even after leaving the Saloon, these girls continued to regard Miss Mylla as their guardian.
Miss Mylla was particularly fond of Chief Mix Liddell, whom she affectionately called "that good-hearted moncal." She had repeatedly stated that Liddell was the only person capable of diverting her from her life of vice, and she was determined to achieve this—however, Liddell, though flattered and reciprocating her feelings, deemed pursuing a relationship with her as unprofessional. Despite not having a conventional romantic relationship—though Miss Mylla remained confident they would eventually—they enjoyed each other's company whenever possible. Miss Mylla also assisted Liddell in various cases by providing him with elusive information.
Miss Mylla's Saloon was conceived by writer Cory J. Herndon and featured in the article Bartyn's Landing and in the role-playing adventure Reckonings, both published in Star Wars Gamer #7 (2001).
The article presumes that the player characters in Reckonings achieve the optimal outcome; however, should they fail, the adventure presents an alternative scenario set during an open conflict between the Menahuun and the inhabitants of Bartyn's Landing. In this instance, as the city descends into a war zone, Miss Mylla abandons Bartyn's Landing and her Saloon in an attempt to begin anew in Little Mon Cal. Tragically, her vessel crashes west of the Rank. Liddell—preoccupied with defending the Landing in ongoing battles—discovers her fate before the Menahuun do, and he endeavors to enlist the player characters to rescue Miss Mylla before the ship sinks.
